Adult Day Services Program
“The Maples Club” Offers Drop in or Full Day Care
With the life expectancy continuing to rise, many are finding themselves in need of additional assistance as they age. While help of all types is available in the form of residential or in-home care, a valuable though not well-known service is adult day care. Programs such as these are designed for older adults who can no longer manage independently, or who are isolated and are in need of social interaction. Silver Maples now offers this valuable option as a new component in their list of senior services.
The Maples Club provides a variety of activities such as art, music, lectures, recreation, and exercise. Activities are designed for members looking for more social and intellectual opportunities, as well as those needing memory care. Club members can come for a couple of hours or for the entire day. The hours of operation are 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission to the program is required. For those staying 5 hours or more, the first meal is included.
“We have the trained staff and facilities and a beautiful setting offering a home away from home for a day, or for as long as is needed, if someone chooses to live at Silver Maples of Chelsea permanently,” said Silver Maples President, Jerry Wilczynski.
Maples Club members may require some assistance with the activities of daily living such as eating, dressing, and medication management, but generally do not require skilled nursing care. The goal is to assist older adults and those with chronic conditions to remain as independent as possible in their own homes, for as long as feasible.
Wilczynski said that the benefits of such a program are two-fold. “Not only can it help seniors stay connected, but it provides an opportunity for adult children who may be shouldering the primary care for their aging parents to have a break, perhaps to attend to personal business, or go to work for the day.” Members are also be able to utilize Silver Maples other services, including the Spa and Salon, the Foot Nurse, and additional meals.
